About TickClock

TickClock is an independent, free website that answers one question at a glance: which markets are open right now, and how long until they open or close.

What TickClock does

TickClock shows the live trading status of China A-shares, Hong Kong stocks, US stocks, China commodity futures and forex in your own time zone. Each market has a countdown to the next open or close, today’s and tomorrow’s status, and full holiday calendars. Daylight saving time is handled automatically.

The site also has an economic calendar for key US releases, such as nonfarm payrolls, CPI and the FOMC rate decision, and a set of trading calculators that show their formulas, including pip value, lot size, position size and futures liquidation price.

What TickClock is not

  • Not affiliated with any exchange, broker, central bank or government agency.
  • Not investment advice. TickClock shows times and does arithmetic; it does not recommend trades or predict markets.
  • Not a quote service. There are no prices, charts or market data feeds.

How the data is maintained

Holiday and half-day calendars are entered by hand from official exchange and government notices, and checked line by line against a written checklist before each update. Every market shows how far its data runs. Once a date is past that coverage, the pages say the data is waiting for an update instead of guessing.

The economic calendar is compared with the official Bureau of Labor Statistics and Federal Reserve schedules twice a day by an automatic check. Changes are reviewed before they are published, and each page shows the date the schedule was last checked.

Time zone and daylight saving conversions use the time zone database built into your browser. All sources are listed on the data sources page.

Report an error or get in touch

If a date or time looks wrong, or an exchange has announced a change that TickClock has not picked up yet, please email [email protected] with the page address and what you expected to see.

Unscheduled closures, such as typhoon or system-outage halts, are announced by exchanges at short notice and are not shown on TickClock. Always check the exchange notice before trading.
