Unix timestamp converter
The current Unix time, plus conversion in both directions. Paste a timestamp in seconds, milliseconds or microseconds, or pick a date and time zone.
Current Unix time
How it works
Unix time counts the seconds since 00:00:00 UTC on January 1, 1970, ignoring leap seconds. It is the same everywhere in the world; only its display depends on the time zone.
Many systems use milliseconds instead of seconds. A 10-digit number is usually seconds and a 13-digit number milliseconds.
Formula
- Seconds = milliseconds ÷ 1000
- Date = 1970-01-01 00:00:00 UTC + timestamp seconds
Example
1790000000 is 2026-09-21 14:13:20 UTC, or 22:13:20 the same day in Beijing.
FAQ
Is Unix time affected by time zones?
No. A timestamp marks one instant. The same timestamp shows different local times in different time zones.
How do I tell seconds from milliseconds?
Current timestamps have 10 digits in seconds and 13 in milliseconds. The converter detects this automatically.
What is the year 2038 problem?
Systems that store Unix time as a signed 32-bit integer overflow at 03:14:07 UTC on January 19, 2038. 64-bit storage avoids it.
