Trading days left before the next holiday
How it works
A trading day is a weekday on which the exchange is open. The count includes both the start and end date if they are trading days.
Holiday data comes from exchange calendars and is published one year at a time. Dates beyond the published data are counted as normal weekdays and flagged.
Formula
- Trading days = weekdays in range − weekday holidays
- Calendar days apart = end date − start date
Example
From September 28 to October 9, 2026, China A-shares have 5 trading days: the National Day holiday closes the market from October 1 to 7.
FAQ
Are half days counted?
Yes. A half day is a trading day with an early close.
How many trading days are there in a year?
Usually about 242 for China A-shares and about 252 for US stocks. Set the range to January 1 to December 31 to get the exact figure for a year.
Why does it say the data is incomplete?
Exchanges publish next year’s holidays near the end of each year. Until then, later dates are counted as normal weekdays.
